Kirk Kapital establishes asset management arm

The family-owned investment company Kirk Kapital A/S has established a subsidiary approved by the Danish FSA to operate as an asset management company. The new entity is named Kirk Kapital Fondsmæglerselskab A/S.

Kirk Kapital currently manages assets for the Kirk Johansen families, descendants of LEGO founder Ole Kirk Christiansen, as well as the charitable foundation Edith & Godtfred Kirk Christiansen’s Fond. The company also partnered with the Nissen family in 2019 following their sale of Nissen Køleteknik. Combined assets under management total approximately DKK 10 billion (EUR 1.3 billion).

Following a 2018 investment strategy redefinition, Kirk Kapital divested several assets and concentrated on two primary categories: Financial Investments and Strategic Investments.

Going forward, the newly licensed Kirk Kapital Fondsmæglerselskab will manage all Financial Investments activities, including six larger portfolios and several smaller ones. Teis Knuthsen remains as CIO of Financial Investments and head of portfolio management.

CEO Kim Gulstad stated: “Applying for a license came from an ambition to be measured against the highest standards in compliance, reporting and risk adjusted returns.”
